Kunigami Village

Located at the northernmost tip of Okinawa Island, this nature-rich village embraces the core of the World Natural Heritage site "Yanbaru Forest." The endangered Okinawa Rail inhabits this area, and dynamic scenic spots like Hiji Falls and Cape Hedo are also scattered throughout. ASMUI Spiritual Hikes (Daisekirinzan)

The mystery of a sacred land woven by strange rocks and a subtropical forest.
Located near the northernmost tip of Okinawa Island, this power spot features huge rock formations created by the erosion of limestone over 200 million years ago, and a rich subtropical forest. There are multiple walking courses where you can enjoy sacred sites appearing in Okinawan mythology and magnificent panoramic views. You can experience a spiritual hike feeling the power and mystery of nature.

Michi-no-Eki Yuiyui Kunigami
Approx. 50-60 minutes by car from Kanucha Resort

The northern gateway to Yanbaru, a roadside station packed with local charm.
This roadside station is located in Kunigami Village, the northernmost village on Okinawa Island. It features a restaurant where you can taste dishes using local specialty Inobuta pork (Kunjan pork), and shops selling fresh vegetables and fruits harvested in Kunigami Village, processed goods, and crafts. The Okinawa Rail Ecology Exhibition and Learning Facility "Kuina no Mori" is also attached, making it convenient for gathering information for Yanbaru sightseeing.

Meet the flightless Okinawa Rail! A precious place for ecological learning.
This is a valuable facility where you can observe the endangered Okinawa Rail, which only inhabits the Yanbaru forest, up close. There are also exhibits on its ecology and conservation efforts, allowing both children and adults to learn in an enjoyable way. Being attached to the roadside station, it’s easy to drop in.

Hiji Falls
Approx. 50-60 minutes by car from Kanucha Resort

The sound of water echoing in the Yanbaru forest, the power of Okinawa Island's largest waterfall.
This is the largest waterfall on Okinawa Island, located upstream of the Hiji River, deep in the Yanbaru forest. The water crashing down into the basin from a drop of about 26 meters is powerful, and the surroundings are enveloped in negative ions and subtropical greenery. A well-maintained walking path (approx. 1.5km, 40-60 minutes one way) continues from the parking lot to the waterfall, with suspension bridges and clear streams along the way, allowing you to enjoy a hiking mood.
